Cement block are the fundamental building blocks–excuse the pun–of many construction projects. There are plenty of different types of these blocks, and each have their own strengths. We have some helpful info about each block’s strengths and weaknesses.
What are cement blocks?
Cement blocks are made from cast concrete and are the most common building unit for construction projects. By using these, you can ensure a strong foundation for your building. But with so many different types of blocks, how do you know which type you should use?
Different types of cement blocks
There are several different types of these blocks that you can use in construction. These are some of the most popular types of cement blocks:
Solid
This is exactly what it sounds like: a solid construction block. This block is specifically created to be strong and durable, and is best for heavy load-bearing projects.
L-Corner
The L-corner block is available to help you build a corner in your construction more easily. This helps your corners stay strong and solid, and provides long lasting strength in corner foundations.
Double Bullnose Face
Double Bullnose Face blocks feature rounded edges on one side of the block, which gives your project a softer, sculpted look.
Jamb Sash
The Jamb Sash blocks feature a groove in one or both ends. This groove is pre-formatted to fit metal window frames or pre-molded joint expansion material.
Bond Beam
Bond Beam blocks have hollowed out middles that are specifically designed to hold reinforcement beams. This way, the block can support reinforcing steel, which leads to strong and stable walls.
