Chicago is a booming city of new construction. As it continues to grow, the city needs new construction to expand. The Chicago construction scene has plenty of new buildings in progress, so here’s a quick recap of some of what’s going on.
South Loop Condo Tower
Recently, Chicago issued a foundation permit in the amount of $8 million for the construction of a new condo tower in the South Loop. The condo tower will be 74 stories tall and located at 1000 S. Michigan. This luxury condo building will have a little over 300 units and James McHugh Construction Co. is the general contractor.
Vista Tower
Vista Tower began construction in August 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2020. When it is complete, this will be the third tallest building in Chicago! Like the other Chicago construction project, the South Loop Condo Tower, this building will also have condo units. It will also have a hotel with over 200 rooms. Vista Tower will be the tallest structure in the world designed by a female architect.
110 North Wacker
This riverside building will be a state-of-the-art skyscraper featuring office space and Chicago’s highest outdoor tenant terrace. This will be the tallest office tower built in Chicago in over 25 years. It is also aiming to become LEED Gold certified, which means it will be environmentally friendly as well.
